A robotic technology that revolutionizes solution bag switching in minimal invasive surgeries. The company develops, produces and markets an electro-mechanical system for operating rooms.
In recent years, the medical world has undergone a process of promoting automation in operating rooms, to minimize human error and shorten medical procedure times. A part of this trend is development in the minimally invasive surgery field such as endoscopic surgery, within the framework of which a tube containing an optic fiber and camera is inserted through a small incision in the skin or through natural cavities in the body. This type of surgery includes arthroscopic (articular surgery), gynecological and urological surgery.
One of the common problems with endoscopic surgery occurs, when, during the surgery, fluid is used to continually flush the camera lens, as it moves through the body, so the surgeon has a constant clear image. During the surgery, several of these fluid bags are necessary and, currently, replacement is performed manually approximately every 10 minutes. Since this is manual replacement, sometimes the replacement is late or takes time, during which the camera lens is covered with blood and the surgeon has to wait until the bag has been replaced.
FlowMed developed an automatic system solving the problem of the supply of fluid during endoscopic surgery. The machine developed by the company performs the replacement of the fluid bags automatically, ensuring timely and fast replacement, negating the need of the surgeon to interrupt the surgery.
